Not for sometime...Its about the money these days, not about the love for the game.

You got it wrong. The real answer is, the day that Mark McGwire returns and breaks Hank Aaron record. Also, the day that A-Rod will be bagging groceries.

Come on yall. We're talking about 2,632 straight games without missing a game. More power to Miguel Tejada but I don't think no one will surpass Ripken steak. Not by a long shot.

If it does, hopefully it'll be done by fellow Oriole player...maybe Tejada. Seems highly unlikely, Ripken's record was a landmark in baseball, not because it seemed unlikely, but when he broke the record, baseball has just went through the ugly strike of 94, and it seemed much more special.

I don't think so. Players don't get that lucky very often and Ripkin was very lucky not to have an injury or illness he couldn't play through. My hat's off to Ripkin for this amazing feat - in the 90's he really was the man to save baseball. Who could ask anymore from a player?

It will be broken, who cares what the majority of players are like. You only need 1..

Tejada is well over 1000, Matsui was over 1000 in the majors, and nearing 2000 if you count his time in Japan.

You only need 1.

who cares? it's still gehrig's streak by me. i think the right thing for cal to do is take himself out of the lineup the game he would have tied it. lou's career was cut short by illness, but he never cost his team any harm by playing everyday. cal played too hurt too often and his team probably would have benefited by having his rest throughout the season and stay healthy. cal only made to the big show once, his rookie year. who knows how much better the o's could have been with a better rested middle infield. i don't know, just my opinion. i think if lou wouldn't have gotten sick, cal or anyone wouldn't have been able to touch that streak.

Yes, I think this streak will eventually be broken. Miguel Tejada has a fairly long streak going... if not him, then someone else will do it.

With the caliber of athletes in the game today, whiners and whats in it only for them, NO. Cal will keep that record long after you and I die and probably our great grand children too.
