When I see a white person with dread all I think is why do they have it. Dreads don't look good on white people. The texture of white people hair is different from a black person and it don't even look like dreads. Its look like a hot mess. Its not offensive its just look bad, horrible, and hot mess.
Oh we don't call its dreadheads it dreadlocks lmao.

A lot of I guess negative opinions about white people sporting dreads is that it is just a fad and some people believe that "white dreadheads" as you say are trying to be black or purely doing it because they smoke pot and listen to Bob Marley with complete disregard to the cultural significance of hair especially dreads. Also there is a huge misconception about exactly what Rastafarianism truly is and some of that not all stems from American (not necessarily caucasian)dreadheads. Or if you don't take good care of your dreads and they look like matted, dirt, and critter invested strings that could also be another cause for the negative looks/comments. I personally do not have a problem with it and I think it is problematic to generalize that all black people may hate or love "white dreadheads"

haha I get horrible looks from black people too, and I'm black if that makes you feel better
i think people in general tend to equate those with locs as being dirty, uncivilized...etc...esp. a white guy, sorry to say
but lastly i think if you were more educated on this history around locs (like the idea that a lot of people don't call them dreads anymore as that's what it was called back in the day by those in power...meant Dreaded hair...but should now be called locs...)

It depends on the Black person that gives you the
horrible look. For many it's not worn because they
like the style, it has meaning. I think it means " To be
Free within yourself" to wear your hair that way.
