Our friends recommended buying a life-like doll that makes noise and moves, placing it at different places around the house and train our dog to stay away. Any other suggestions?!?!

No matter how much you love and trust your dog, NEVER leave them alone together. But take a blankie with you and baby's smell and send it home before you leave hospital. Leave it on the floor so your dog can get used to the smell. And when you are due to arrive home, let someone take him for a walk while you go back, so that he comes home to the baby being there. This would make it feel less of an intrusion in his space. But overall, it shouldn't be a problem, as dogs adapt very quickly to the new one in the house. Make sure you still give the dog lots of cuddles and attention though.

Congratulations on your pregnancy, and best of luck with the little one! There is no greater pleasure.

Keep the dog away from the baby. It's not healthy for them (the baby) to breathe in dander or their (the dog's) saliva.
