the moolies are afraid of italian neighborhoods. Also my parents from Naples hate them. You can distinguish between and other people by our olive skin and features. Itaian americans are often white because they are mixed with irish people making them look fair skinned. blacks are afraid to mess with us and we are not politically correct like anglo saxon people.

Wow, before coming on this site, I never realised how ignorant most people are!!!!!!! 920135 says that Italians aren't White, but maybe more European!!!!! Who is White then????? Then she says that maybe Italians are more like Latins, because the language is similar to Mexican!!!!!!! Please people, read, if you can, and LEARN!!!!!!! And Gino and your multiple identities, get a life, and quit saying you're Italian!!!!! It's pathetic!!!!!! Italians are no different to all other Southern Europeans, sometimes they're not even as dark as Spaniards FROM SPAIN, Greeks, Portuguese and Eastern Europeans. Travel to Italia, and see for yourself, you'll see many fair skinned, light haired, blue and green eyed whites!! We only tan due to our wonderful Mediterranean climate, but are white in the winter months, idiota!!!

The US is really different compared to other countries in the race lumping. Most European countries distinguish the ethnic groups even more than other more diverse countries. They put all of them into the white category because its easy. Its the same reason that Chinese and Japanese are just called Asian or Oriental. Another factor is the fact that the Europeans that immigrate into the US don't separate themselves into ethnic groups and they cross breed.
You're white because its the generic term for people of European descent.

You are considered Caucasian because you do not fit into the other groups of people of color, or Asian. Most people from the Mediterranean region have olive colored skin. I have olive colored skin and I am not Italian, I am half Lebanese. As for people being afraid of you I think maybe you are over emphasizing it. People are just cautious by nature of other people who they see as being different. As for people of Caucasian dating people of color, your parents can not dictate to you who you fall in love with. It is wonderful that you are proud of your heritage and know your families roots. You just can't proclaim that everyone of color or as you so vividly put it moolies, hate you. To me it sounds as if you are the one being racist.

Your a human being, does it really matter where you or your parents were born? Why not worry less about what color someone sees you as and more on your hate issues. I can understand wanting to know your heredity, but it doesn't define who you are. Call yourself a purple pokadotted Frenchman from Saudi Arabia for all I care, but lose the racist attitude, you are giving the rest of us Italians a bad name.

So what is your question? I am Mexican, and so are most of my friends. We all know how dope Italians are, and we don't feel like you guys are white.. hello, has anyone who thinks your white ever seen Goodfellas or Casino? Apparently not, because if so, they would have a deeper respect for your culture... as far as the moolies being afraid of your neighborhood, i guess your people did many years of 'good things' to keep out unwanted people. I agree, Italians are gorgeous, curvaceous and exotic. I have never thought as your people being white, I would say european, closer to Latin because our language is quite similar.
