Dear friend,

I tried the troubleshooting suggested by you but its still unresolved. The puzzling thing is that the CD RW drive reads the MPEG file in the lens clear CD. But it cant read the movie CD. Therefore I conclude that the lens is fine.

I also recollect that this problem started when my computer gave a message that a virus by the name jifo was detected while playing a movie CD.

I woud reall appreciate if you let me know the resolution.

Thanks

A VCD is also an mpeg format. Put the VCD in the drive then open windows media player. To to file>open and find the Disk drive one you open it you will see a directory called Mpeg if i remember correctly open that and the folder should be empty.

in the open window at the bottem you will see an drop down menu with the title file type.

Choose all media and some files will open up. chose them and press open it should work.

Its not your drive but the software your using if you get something like Power DVD it should be able to pick up and play the VCD automaticly.

I hope this helps

Perhaps, you are using wrong media player for playing movie CD. Try vlc from www.videolan.org it's free and supports almost every format, including .rm (real media).
