I've never heard of "alternative science." To me, its either science or its not. Why isn't this category named "pseudoscience", or "not even remotely science"?

String theory is based upon sound scientific principles. It isn't fringe, it's a new arena, and the equations (a HUGE part of science) all make sense. That's why Dr. Weinburg is so respected in this field. He is the pioneer of string theory, and he isn't just pulling this mess out of his @ss. When he has his work peer reviewed, the other eggheads get the same results!

Once again, James Randi has a million bucks he's been trying like mad to give away for 30 years now to ANYone that can prove telekenisis, teleportation, ghosts, mind reading, magnets that cure cancer, ANYthing that all that is considered outside the realm of traditional science. http://www.randi.org

A MILLION BUCKS!! and nobody has been able to claim the prize.

Probably because the general public (and in specific those you find on internet bulletin boards) don't understand at ALL what scientific principles are. There's no understanding of what double blind studies are, what it takes to PROVE something is effective or ineffective, or what the processes involved in scientific thought are.

So people buy into nonsense, assuming that if something is "natural" it must be GOOD. Also, people remain distrustful of scientific thought, BECAUSE they don't understand it. They mis-understand and start rumours about the motivation behind it (i.e., the ridiculous conspiracy theory that there IS a cure for certain diseases, but that releasing it would cost certain industries tons of money, etc.).

Of course, no one is going to change...we've been believing myths and conjectures for centuries and we'll go right on doing so.

Because YA! is on crack? I don't know... I agree with you that it either is science or it isn't, and this Art Bell-ish stuff is just daft. Not scientific at all.

I believe that it IS scientific because the definition of science is a study of a subject using a scientific method. You can make a "science" of anything. I think you are inferring that alternative sciences may imply something that does not fit into your scope of traditional science and understanding. Because string theory in physics is "theoretical", does that make it not science?

You will never Know what you are missing if your mind , more so your heart is closed. There is more than you can ever perceive from our dismal mind of self importance. Good "Luck" in discovering The Truth. All that You can perceive is less than one percent of all that truly exists
