By any chance was he a preemie? My son was, and I was obsessed with his formula consumption because they drilled it into my head in the NICU that he HAD TO EAT, HAD TO GAIN WEIGHT. I still worry, but my doctor said that as long as he's gaining and is healthy, not to worry. Babies have a way of knowing how much food they need. Some need more, some need less.
If it seems to be declining, though, I would find a doctor that will see him before the 4th, just to make sure everything is OK and give you peace of mind.

A general rule of thumb is that a baby will drink between 2 and 2 1/2 ounces of formula per pound of body weight until he/she is 15 pounds. After that, it is average for a baby to drink 1 ounce for every 2 pounds he weighs at 5 feedings per day. However, those are just guidelines and some babies eat more and some less. Do not worry too much about the amount your baby drinks as all babies are different in their nutritional requirements. If he turns his head and pushes the nipple out of his mouth with his tongue then he is no longer hungry. If he is happy, healthy, and sleeping well, he is probably eating as much as his body is calling for.

My daughter almost never had over 20 ounces a day. On rare occasions she'd take 25-30.
She has always been in the 75% in weight, height (my husband and I are both small people)
She's now 18 months old and and still big for her age and is very healthy.

Is he gaining weight like he should? If so, he's fine. Sometimes babies will go on a food strike. He may be teething, that can cause a food strike.
If it lasts more than a few days, I suggest taking him to the pediatrician during their sick child time. Most do this in the first hour or two after they open. You can always just show up and ask to be worked in, too.

My 5 month old son doesn't eat too much either. We just now got him to eat 5ozs at time. He is in the 25% for weight but his doctor says he is doing fine. She seems to think when he gets on baby food then he will probably eat more. I was the same way as a baby. I never really took well to formula but I ate better when baby food was introduced. My son is on cereal and you can't feed it to him fast enough!

This is not beyond ordinary. Babies go through a growth spurt at 3 months, then slow down again for awhile. It is probably worrisome to you as he used to eat the same amount or more. As long as he isn't losing weight and isn't showing signs of dehydration he is perfectly fine. No two babies eat the same. My 3 1/2 mo. old eats only slightly more at about 24 oz. a day.
