So someone please explain to me: is it a wise idea to leave your Fraternity houses without fire sprinklers? Who in their right mind doesnt think of such things when it comes to dealing with college students? Are any of the faculty at Wesleyan University actually parents?

I did not know this. Appreciate the input guys. I was under the impression the Fraternity and Sorority houses were College property. This being the case I think its high time landlords of houses being converted into Fraternities/Sororities take the proper fire safety measures to the next level.

i dont think frat houses are owned by the college, they're owned by the people that live there (who pay rent). it's just that a bunch of guys from the fraternity live there, so it becomes a frat house. but the college has no say whatsoever in the upkeep of the house. but that's very sad what happened at that college!

What the other poster said is true. Frat houses, in every case I know of, aren't owned by the university. They are held by private landlords.

Sadly, the university doesn't get to tell them to install sprinklers, since they aren't campus property.

Is it? I've had about twice as many yahoo accounts than sexual partners.
