I have been trying to get pregnant for a few months now. I dont normally have any problems with my cycle and have successfully predicted my ovulation time to the day (also using ovulation prediction kits just to be safe. I normally have a period on the same day every month. For some reason I have had a "show" about four days early this month. However it is just a sort of "brownish discharge" (sorry for the description) and not a normal red blood flow. What do I do with regard to predicting my next ovulation? Do I take take this date the discharge shows as the first day or do I wait until red flow starts and take this as day 1. This hasnt happened before so just looking for any advise you may have.

Are you charting your basal body temperature? That's the ONLY way to really predict when you will ovulate and the only way you can find out yourself that you actually did. Dr's can do bloodwork, but they can't pinpoint when it happens that way.
Check out www.fertilityfriend.com They have free temp charting software on the site that's easy to learn to use. I charted my temps for 2 years before I got pregnant. We eventually found out both of my tubes were blocked and I needed surgery. I'm now 37 weeks!

Edited to add: Brownish blood is NOT your period. It is old blood. Your period will be fresh blood, red. This could be implantation spotting. Have you tried a pregnancy test?

I would probably go with the brownish blood. It may just be that you have been trying to get preganant and all the different things going on with your body has caused a delay reaction in your body. Kind of like your body is confused. Start the period/make a baby. I hope this helps a little, and I hope you conceive.
