Last month I requested 3 days off of work for the 24th 25th and 26th of november. Well this week when my schedule came out, I noticed that instead of giving me the days off he gave me a double shift for those days. I also noticed that he gave a whole week off for this new girl that just started and he ahve another week off for antoher one of the new girls. I called him today since it was my day off and was trying to talk to him abotu my schedule, well all he said was he would not change it, I would have to work, and that I was aggravating him. I am now thinking about quiting my job, I ahve worked there for 4 months and never did i complain or ask for days off. And the first time i do he acted really mean to me. Its not fair that the new girls got off for the holiday and i didn't even ask for the holiday off. So would I be making a smart decision to quite, I hate my job, It pays $9.oo an hour and i work as a hostess, but i'm tired of my managers taking adavantage and playing favorites.

That isn't fair. I would write everything down and take the issue to upper management or HR. No matter what your job title, it is no reason to be treated that way. The quick vengeful solution would be to quit during a very busy time of day, but you have to make sure you will be able to make do until you find another job. Doing that won't look good for you when you apply for the next job though. Just try to be patient for meanwhile. I actually think this is the easiest time to look for a new job, especially in retail or any place that gets busy during the holidays. Good Luck!!

The best answer isn't always going to be what you want to hear. Apparantly, the school is trying to solve a situation. A really horrible situation. SHOPLIFTING, stealing, theives. People who take things that hardworking people earned the right to. Put yourself in the manager's shoes just for a moment, please. Lets say you've spent an entire lifetime to start up a clothing store - a hot, new, and stylish clothing store. You finally saved up enought, got a loan from the bank to pay for the rest, and you spend your sweat, blood, time and money into making the store look awesome! All those hours!! You're proud. THen, a group of thugs go in to take what they want. Or just one or two items, even... not expensive. YOU WANT justice. You deserve justice. You are free to think what you want about the consequence. But, I'm telling you that the best decision was made. For your protection and for others. If you can't appreciate that, then, not sure if you really wanted help figuring out your question.

He sounds like a total jerk and if you have enough money to tide you over while you look for a new job you should quit. Or you can apply to other jobs in your spare time because it's easier to get something when you are already employed. Life is too short to put up with unfair work conditions and a jerk for a boss.

I'd see if one of those girls would switch with you (this is a bad time of year to quit a job) and if you're still miserable, quit after the holidays.

I would definately talk to him about it....and if continues to be a jerk, then go to HR or his boss. Follow the chain of command and work your way up till someone does something about it. Also. I definately think it's time to start looking for another job =)

I really have to wonder if some of those new girls were "doing something extra" for that manager, if you get my drift...

Refuse to do any double shifts or overtime, tell him you will report him to HR if he doesn't stop p*ssing around.
