I have been dating my fiance for 4 years now & I am tottally In love with him. We are lucky to live in south Florida where there are a ton of different cultures. But sometimes I still get looks from people. What do you think about that ? Shouldn't most people be over the whole black/white thing by now ??

there's nothing wrong with interracial relationships... if people don't like it..tough... just remember the culture and religion are issues among people...and remember to just ignore the people that stare... people only hate what they don't understand... remember that... people got to learn that the worlds changing... they need to learn to accept that there are going to be gay marriages and interracial marriages

OMG! I'm saying that all the time "whyyyy is this still an issue?"
I really don't know why it is but I agree 100% people need to get over it. Best of luck to you and your fiance and if anyone has a problem with your relationship they need to live in the now and stop being narrow minded. We're all in this together after all. And don't they have anything better to be upset about than two people loving each other??? sheeeesh!

Unfortunately, interracial relationships are still something that people tend to stare at when they see an interracial couple. You would think that by 2006 people would be used to seeing every ype of couple imaginable, but some people, particularly the older people, are still struck by that. It's nuts, because interracial couples first became prevalent in American culture back in the 70's, when The Jeffersons was the first TV show to have an interracial couple on it. It's such a stupid reason to stare, and I hope for your sake that people get a life and start worrying about their own relationships as much as they worry about other people's.

Yeah, I thought people had gotten over that after the time Kirk french-kissed Uhura. I wonder if they think a black horse shouldn't`t mate with a white one or orange tabbies should be segregated from brown ones. I really don`t get it myself.

You would hope that people are over that, but there are some that will die not getting it. Do not worry about their opinion. This is your life and your love. Enjoy your life together and have a great wedding.

Take care,
Troy

You'd think. My brother and sister in law live in northern Wisconsin. He met and married his wife in Africa and they live back in Wisconsin now - a place thats 96% white. I've never asked them, but I'm sure they get funny looks too.

I think it's ignorant. Very very ignorant and old school. But it happens and I don't know if we'll ever live in a racist free world. You just have to look 'em dead in the eye and smile.

I think they should mind their business! Love is love, regardless of color or creed or gender or anything else.

Don't let the ignorant losers get you down =)

You would think. Hopefully, that is the very worst thing they are doing, just giving you strange looks. I don't see how it's anybody Else's business but yours and his. Just try not to give a **** what anyone else thinks about it (I know, I know, I'm not in your shoes).
