My school is having a dance team for the very first time next year and tryouts will be in March. I don't realy know if I'm good at dancing because i've never danced in front of people before. I'm currently in dance class. I've been taking it since this summer. My dance teacher say's i'm good but i feel that i'm not because i cant catch on that quickly. I'm scared that i wont catch on to the dance. What should i do? i allready talked the lady who is sponsering it she said that we will learn two dances hip hop and a kick. Please give me tips on how to become better.

Also 54 people have signed the list to tryout!

First of all, it's more about the attitude than the moves when it comes to dancing. A person who does each dance move technically perfect might still pale in comparison to a person who does them with passion and enthusiasm. If you've been taking dance class and your dance teacher thinks you have a shot at this, I don't see why you wouldn't be one of the people chosen. Just remember that it's really important to smile and look like you're having a great time, and just remember that you love dancing no matter what happens with these tryouts, and have fun with it. In the meantime, you can train for it by working on your flexibility. Do some of the warm-up exercises you probably do in your dance class, like stretches and stuff like that, a couple of times a day, just so you can be extra limber for tryouts. Most importantly, be confident about your ablities as a dancer! The sport of dance is known for having some really mean, competitive girls in it, and some girls might try to intimidate you and make you feel like you don't stand a chance, but don't let them! Just remember that you are GOOD!! Oh, and P.S.- Dancing in front of people is easy. Just remember that they have no idea how your routine is supposed to go, and even if you mess up, chances are they won't notice. Good luck and have FUN!!!!!!

Just try to focus when they teach you the dance. If you need to see or hear something again, don't be afraid to ask. Try getting together with some other people who are trying out and share advice and concerns. If this is the first time they are having a dance team, then everyone has a level playing field, so just try your best!

Practise a lot. Listen to what the dance teacher tells you.
