have a Compaq PC which was purchased second hand.
The actual pc is ipaq 1.0 Desktop(iPAQ/P1.0/20e/2/128UK
have ben given a list of option part numbers tested on this unit;

If any thing you need the mobo drivers! There are very few cdrom units that need a driver! They are all plug and play! I,m thinkin you need to reinstall the mobo drivers if the unit isnt seeing the cdrom or the cdrom itself is defunct!

Would need to know the version of Windows to be able to tell you which driver you need for the PC.
BUT I suspect from the list of devices you have listed that you are NOT looking for a CD driveR (software), you are looking for a drive (hardware). Everything you have listed there is hardware.
The answer is that a compaq disktop will be able to run ANY of the CD or DVD drives currently on the market. You do not need a special one for any of the Compaq desktops. They are all IDE compatiable (just like a hard drive). If you are running Windows 98 or better, you will not even need to load a driver to use the CD drive. (You will need to load software if you buy a CD or DVD BURNER).
So stop at your favorite electronic store and see what they have one sale this week. You can use any CD and DVD brand in your computer.

Just go to compaq.com web page and look for download section then look for CD drivers, follow the instruction and that's it, you must be able to find the correct driver that you are looking for.
