When adding or subtracting polynomials set them up so that the first polynomial is over the second with all like term over each other. If a term is missing insert a zero where that missing term is.

14x^2 + 3x +11
10x^2 + 0x + 5

Now subtract all like terms

4X^2 + 3x + 6
