I would like to buy a desktop (w/ monitor etc). At the moment I cannot afford anything above 600-700. But I like to get something that my nieces can use to play online games. But I mostly use to surf and instant message. How is buying a computer through the Dell Outlet is it recommended?? And how was the product etc?

Dell outlet is fine (http://outlet.dell.com) - I purchased my current laptop through their outlet and am very happy with it.

I would suggest a Dell Dimension with a decent video card and amount of ram. For vid pretty much anything Nvidia should be good and try to get at least 1 gigabye of ram. Gaming takes quite a bit more horsepower than web browsing and messaging.

This is an ok system for an ok price, but I hope you never intend to upgarde anything about it. You will be stuck with components that can't be upgraded without replacing the whole thing.

What you need to do is look at the market and look for the best things offered. NOT with the intent to buy these, but just so you get an idea where technology is going and how outdated your system will already be when you buy it.
