Ok, I wrote this and I'll give 10 points to whoever can figure out what I meant.

When freedom glows inside one lonely moment
And stars are shaped to match your lovely torment,
Look up, look up! The sky is made of tears!
Look down, look down! The ground is built on fears!
But no... you sigh and smile... and forget
As if your lonely freedom doesn't fret,
As if the naked pages can escape
And glow despite their useless state,
As if they're blind, they cannot see
That bloodstained ink that kills the glee
Inside their mortal history
Because it doesn't set them free.

all the stuff in the world that we desire to have is the same thing that pins us down

Dear Ava, you have encountered the young poet's conundrum, and then displayed it to the world.

The situation: You have written a page of pretty words, and specified emotion in rhyme, and now you need to know if others see the same images, build the same designs from your lines as does your heart and mind.

So, here you are caught in a life where your writing (and your self), aren't valued, which is where the pain and torment make your life more bearable (lovely torment?), and you are trying to place that conflict into the public: let the papers fly!

Every poet faces this, and you should perhaps read Nikki Giovanni, who has the best answer I ever encountered.

She noted that when a poem is done she lets it go, moves on, and does not look to see what anyone thinks, or even if they understand the writing: it is hers, it fits, it is done.

You too, Ava-chan, we see the emo in your words, yet they are not the perfection of iambic rhyme: make them bleed for clarity and wit, and then you needn't ask what meaning we derive from your life, it will be laid upon the page for all to know.

Keep writing.

For me, anyway:

In a moment of solitude and honest reflection, we liken our staggering amount of infinite freedom to the boundless depths of the sky. The sky is made of tears because we associate their mystery with our torment which, surprisingly enough, is beautiful, daunting and inexplicable, making the torment, in a dichotomous way, beautiful in a similar way we view the celestial bodies. The sky is made of tears---tears of mystery/torment and joy. The ground is built on fears because those with a lack of imagination who ignore such mysteries---and treat them as though they are not mysteries (the realm of science)---live in fear and fill the void in their lives with meaninglessness (putting an unknowable universe under scrutiny to the point of destroying its beauty) while putting on an air like they have everything figured out while wasting their time creating artifacts of human stupidity (hubris-ridden books, ect) that are not infinite and will rot in history with time when they should have just said, "Wow, that's beautiful. I can't ever understand it, but it's beautiful" and enjoy their time in this short life.

Not sure. Is it about war or love? (Same difference, tee hee). Talk of freedom & stars makes me think of America & the flag. You also mention words like state, mortal history. Not sure.

It's beautiful though. Good job! Poems are supposed to be confusing. Kind of like song lyrics, when you have no idea what they're saying but you still sing along like a fool...

That was beautiful, i wish i could make up something like that, i loved it, anyway, i think you were meaning even though your in a bad situation, just smile and youll be okay, if you let others promblems be yourown, and if you let the things aroung you affect you, then you will live as they do. I f thier sad, they will bring you down, but if you dont let it affect you, and just smile, you will be fine

I'm pretty sure it is a war protest.
None of us want war, we do however want to continue to live in a FREE country that affords opportunities and freedoms found no where else!

A wild guess but your poem reminded me of 9/11.
I am guessing the 9/11 memorial?

Why don't you just tell us instead of submitting us to decoding your boring encryption.

Apparently through 'freedom' (lol...) the universe is personified in our ( YOUR!) sad behavior. And running away from this 'reality' we delude ourselves in a bunch of contradictions I don't care to unpack.
