wow...OK, so with out Sabbath we have no metal, i know blue cheer and some other bands really defined the sound that Sabbath used, but, it wouldn't be metal if it wasn't for Sabbath. The whole dark/black/evil thing is 100% Sabbath. Tony Iome's playing and slack/dropped tuning also changed the way people played guitar forever...but...The mighty Zep...Robert Plant...Jimmy Page...might be the most talented band ever and they made a bigger mark on popular culture and society as a whole.
Both bands rule as far as I'm concerned...but...Led Zeppelin...by far.

zeppelin had more influence on mainstream rock. but sabbath invented a genre. metalheads still worship tony & ozzy. so i guess its a tie between 2 of the best ever

influental as in... influental as in to our country or to the rock era or corrupting your mind or what? well any way i would say Led Zeppelin. bigtime. The only song everybody knows by Black Sabboth is iron man but black sabboth had better songs like warpigs and heaven and hell. By Led Zeppelin everybody knows tons of their stuff-- Immigrant song- stairway to heaven- black dog- tons of stuff
led zeppelin pretty much kicks ***

sabath introduced a whole new style
zep took an existing style and did it very well
so sabath had more influence, even if zep was more popular.
