Chandler worked as a Data-Processor, a job which he thoroughly loathed. It remains a running joke through most of the seasons that no one quite knows what he does. His friends, in a trivia game, could not guess his job in one instance, with Rachel hysterically calling him a "transponster." Joey once said "Jeez, Chandler, you call yourself an accountant?", to which Chandler incredulously replied, "No!"

In the early episodes he was a data processor and worked with the WENIS. In later episodes he decided to go into advertising and worked as an intern with a bunch of young men and women. He did such a good job for the company that they made him a junior copyrighter.

I think it's mentioned in an episode that he's a Processer. So, something to do with accountancy and money I'm guessing.
