Because then people don't have to think and it's easy to write a short answer that can give 2 points. It is the 10 points that are hard to get on a silly question since everyone's answer is usually similar.

I think that it's because the silly questions require less thought & effort on behalf of the responder so the answerer is able to pop off a comment & then move on without really taking time to slow down at all.
That's cool, but I also like serious questions from time to time & don't mind spending ten or fifteen minutes, or more....formulating a response, especially if it requires research on my part. When I want to be serious, I find myself drifting off to other categories besides P&S even though this is my favorite place on the site.

Anyone can write a silly answer to a silly question, but you have to know something about a subject to write a good answer for a good question.

because it is easier to answer an easy or silly question, because you already know the answer. while a hard question people need to use their brain and if you haven't noticed yet people don't like doing that very much or actually at all.

Because people don't want to take the effort to answer serious questions. And it's not an effort to write "silly" questions either.

Because people are simpletons. It is easier to read 5 words than 100. Therefore the lazy person is drawn to this. Plus, the majority of people are looking for entertainment rather than serious answering of questions.

Silly question needs silly and casual answers, as most people feel it so easy ... they respond to such questions in more numbers. Also, when compared to serious users, casual users of internet are more ... so also its the reason
