Acid (LSD)... Do you possibly think... it could be a way of opening extra senses in the mind? I understand society has been taught that it alters senses, but WHAT IF it actually opened senses that the normal human mind could not achieve soley. What if, like with Schizophreniacs, when you hear voices and see things on LSD, they were really sound waves or really there? Just something I thought of?

This is not necessarily a drug question, think about people who say they really see things or really hear things that just because no else can see or hear... maybe they were just born with an added sense to the standard 5 senses? Could this possible? What are your thoughts/ideas on this?

LSD is lysergic acid. It is a hormone made by the human body. It is the substance that allows you to imagine things. To be able to picture things that aren't there. Let say we are talking about an elephant. You can picture the elephant. The ability to picture or imagine things not in your view is not shared by all species. This is what gives us our imagination and creative ability. The LSD people talk about taking as a drug is like 1000 times more than what your body normally produces. The effect of taking this much LSD is that it gives you hallucinations. Hallucinations are only different from imagining things in the ability of the person imagining / hallucinating to tell reality from what they are envisioning. Ever had one of those dreams that seems so real? This is the effect of LSD and not some "extra senses" in the mind. There are no 'extra senses', there are only the ones we are born with. The ones dictated by our genetics.

LSD is wrong! Some ways worse than the 60's I know my parents generation are the druggies 40 -50 yr old! I have a uncle who is completely fried from doing it as a teen. He was in a mental home. He had to relearn how to write, dress, speak, he has a mind of a 10 yr old.
OK, why is it that people who are born with no abilities try so hard to see the dead and energies! It's a gift and matter how many drugs you do it won't help. Either you can see dead people or you can't . It's something you are born with! So please lay off the drugs there's a major difference

I don't think you're too young, as long as you know all the effects you're gonna experience. And not just breathing and melting walls, tracers, brightened colors, etc. You need to know the deeper effects like time dilation and reversals (where time can slow, speed up, stop, repeat, or rewind), the experience of feeling contradictory emotions at the same time (happy and sad, anger and calm, love and hate, etc. but simultaneously), synesthesia ("hearing" colors, "seeing" sound and music, "tasting" touch, etc.), ego loss or splitting, and out-of-body / near-death experiences. Now you probably won't experience the more intense effects if it's your first time and you're taking a low to moderate dose. You won't start experiencing ego loss, out-of-body / near-death / near-birth experiences, or simultaneous contradictory emotions until you reach a dose around the 350 to 400+ microgram mark. For a first time I would recommend taking 200 micrograms, which is about two hits (but check with the dealer on the dose per hit, because a single blotter can contain as much as 300 micrograms each, so a 600 microgram experience would be unbelievably unexpected). It should cost you about $20, maybe a little more.

Interesting question. However, stop and think about it...LSD and any other hallucination-inducing substance conflicts with the brain's attempt to percieve things and process stimulus input. People with Schizophrenia don't have extra senses, nor do hallucinations produce extra senses...In effect, what substances like LSD do is COMBINE senses and interfere with the brain processing sensory input. Basically, no new senses are created if you're still hearing, seeing, tasting, smelling, or touching.

Too bad we don't really know how LSD works.

It alters seratonin levels and it's receptors, that's for sure. So whatever LSD is doing, it is not exactly natural. That is why we know that LSD alters our senses.

While on LSD your thalamus and such tends to screw up the information it's sending off to the cortex, hence the really really weird perception of reality.

Good question! what was the question again man? j/k We humans have extras senses we just dont know how to use them or extract them.... Sxhizophreniacs dilusional behavior might be reality in a different realm we cant comprehend......similar to LSD Native Indians used to smoke Peyote and have their out of body experinence with spirits................ it is good to explore other dimensions of our brain and/or reality.......... sometimes things just dont make sense and our brain is so black and white that we dont break it down at a more intelectual level

Research the science of it. It alters the mind.

I think this is like a lot of conspiracy type theories. The romantisism of this is grand but the application is not.
