Hiya,

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I shut my pc down fine one night, then the next morning when I turned it on nothing appeared on the screen, the (motherboard) fan made a dodgy noise and the pc shut itself off after 20 seconds or so.

I thought maybe it was overheating, so I've opened it up and got rid of the dust and have also tried running the PC with the box open and a big ol' fan blowing in, but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas? I miss my computer :o(

the fact that it was next morning suggests to me that it's not overheating. if a fan stops working it will not stop computer booting up, i think the sound may be your hard drive maybe. have you got access to another hard drive you could stick in and try? or a computer you could try yours in just to check if it boots. diagnosis is the key here!!!!

Ok you were handling the PC comonents in an anti static way wern't you?

If not this wouldn't have helped the issues much!

Your best bet is to contact the manufactuer or distributor of your PC.

It must be the power supply, it is the one stopping the CPU turned on. Another reason is the noisy fan, its not getting the power to cool the system.

it could be your power supply. you may want to go to BEST BUY or STAPLES and get a PSU and try it if it doesn't fix it you can take it back. i have had a few computer in 11years and i customize my computers have had to replace my psu about 8 times.good luck and try getting another power supply from the place that is close to where you are and make sure they have a return policy.
