I am 20 and I still feel like I'm a kid sometimes...not just because my parents are paying for my college, but also because of the way I act as well....what do you think of 20-year-olds and their maturity level?

It all depends on the person. I like to say that no matter how old I get, I am still a kid at heart.

I am 51 and still feel like a kid sometimes. Maturity comes at different levels. We do not all mature similarly. Maturity is a mind-set, a conscious decision how and how not to act or react in any given situation. I am sure there are many situations that you amaze people with your mature responses, while at other times you appear childish. Same with me. What you want to do is live life, like it is you last day. Have fun, enjoy the beauty of it. Do not take it to seriously as long as you are serious about taking it. But always remember that there is a responsibility, that is what makes the difference between the right and wrong of it all. Being responsible means you think before you do, you act rather than react, you formulate before you postulate and you consider the consequences before you commit offenses.
You see maturity makes you old, responsiblity makes you gold.
good luck

You're an individual, a person, not just "a 20-yr-old." Each person is different. I got married at 20 (by which time I already had my Bachelor's degree.) My mother had 3 kids by the time she was 20, and had been married for 5 yrs--but mature? Not so much. She quit 8th grade to get married...and remained a very irresponsible person all her life.
A lot depends on what the person has been taught, what has been expected of them in terms of taking responsibility for themselves, their actions, work etc.
We all feel like kids sometimes...and act like it. Does your "childish" behaviour bother you? If so, maybe you're in the process of acquiring more of that maturity! If not, enjoy life for another year or so before moving into the "grown up" world.

Well, my sister's almost 20 and my parents are still paying for her college. It actually kind of depends on the 20-year-old and their personality. You don't seem immature. It's all based on how you act, really. It's actually good to feel like a kid inside, well, to some people. Lol, some people want to be a kid again so you should feel lucky.

I think 20 year olds now days are more immature than days before. However, maturity is based on what kinds of experiences you go through and how you decide to learn from them and apply to your life.
In my opinion I say just let loose and have fun at age 20. You can still be responsible and enjoy your freedom.

Sociologists have stated that, because of the spoiled nature of our society, adolescence now extends into the thirties. Back when life expectancy was 45, people had to "grow up" faster. Now that the average life expect ency is 82, nobody is in a hurry to take responsibility for their own life. Back in the 1800's a party surveying the northern part of Indiana sent a 12 year old boy, alone, to Detroit, MI to get supplies. He did it and returned. Not many 20 year olds could do that today.

Some are more mature than others but generally speaking most are what they are:20 year olds. Some are wise enough to listen to the advice people who have more life experience than they do and thus avoid some of mistakes common to young people.

You are basically physically mature at the age of 21.. Mental and emotional maturity may never be reached by many. This does not overlook the need for responsibility regardless of the level of maturity.

from my experience, and no offense intended here, 20 year olds are babies. big babies, but babies none the less. most of the ones i have encountered are disrespectful and rude. the kids these days act like the world owes them a favor or something for being born. and not just hope, but EXPECT their parents to pay for university, room and board, car, insurance, and pocket cash. if you want to be treated as a mature adult, remember to act like one. the road to life is not paved in gold or silver platters. respect is NOT a right, it is earned.

some people mature early or really late. I know an old man that acts like a teenager.
