I drive down a lot to see my grandparents, but my brother doesnt get down as much as he could because he is always working. this in fact is the first thanksgiving he is off from work in three years. I've been going to my boyfriends family for the the last two years. I promised my brother we would drive an hour and forty five minutes to our grandparents for thanksgiving, but now I start a new job the monday before, and i am reqired to be at the job on friday after. My brother is devastated that i am trying to excuse myself from driving a bunch on thankgivng. i do have a place to go no matter I am, bu Kenny really wants to see the family even if it means we will be there only for dinner. What should i do?

My brother doesn't have a car, and we live about 20 miles apart in morris county, north NJ, Our grandparents live down the Shore around a 2 hour drive in ocean County NJ. I also tried to get out of drinvg down there already because the holidays give me cold feet. this was before i was hired for the new job and my brother just thinks its another excuse, which it is not. I wanna be able to relax that day and spending most of it dring will just tire me out. this is why i need advice.

YOU SEE I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ALSO, SO EVERY YEAR I ALWAYS GO TO MY PARENTS HOME, B/C SHE IS NOT VERY WELL, AND I GET A LOT OF OFFERS TO GO TO MANY OTHER PLACES, BUT I TELL THEM, I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH MY MOM HAS TO LIVE (WHICH BY THE WAY IS TRUE) SO MOST OF THEM UNDERSTANDING. I THINK YOU AND YOUR BROTHER SHOULD GO TO YOUR GRANDPARENTS FOR THANKSGIVING, B/C YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH TIME THEY HAVE TO LIVE ALSO, AND IT WOULD MAKE THE SO HAPPY TO SEE THE BOTH OF YOU. TALK IT OUT WITH YOUR BROTHER. GOOD LUCK, AND I HOPE WHERE EVER YOU GO, THAT YOU WILL HAVE A HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

You have to do the right thing about your job - that means being there on the Friday. If you're okay with only going for Thursday dinner, then I say go with him as long as he's willing to bring you back that night. Don't let him guilt you about it - remember he's already missed 3 years' worth. He should understand that your employment is important, too.

You only live 20 minutes from your brother? So why not explain about the new job and tell him you'll drive to his place on the weekend and take him to dinner.

you're needless to say no longer the sharpest device in the field - it states needless to say that the %. consists of "10 English posters, 2 bags tags, 2 wallet playing cards a million automobile decal" and the accompanying photos shows that the posters are 'lacking' posters for Madeleine McCann. Do save up.

make the drive for dinner and come back, he hasn't had a thanksgiving off in a few years, and maybe after this year he wont have the next few off, take advantage and go to your grandparents....

I would go for dinner, make the proper explanations, leave about 15 minutes after dessert (don't stuff yourself) and be ready on Friday.
