At this point I would get the Xbox 360, just because it has been out for a while and the bugs in the system should be worked out. It is also possible to get used games for it at a discounted price. Then after prices drop on the other systems you can get them. That is how I did it in the last generation. Got the PS2 when it was close to new. The Xbox when it had its price drop in the refurbished model, from EBgames, and recently the GameCube used for a quarter of the new price at start day also from EBgames. So it is still possible to get all the systems over time, and enjoy all the benefits they have to offer.

I had a PS1, I have a PS2, a PSP, and used to own an X-BOX. My Sony systems never give me problems. The X-BOX that I had I ended up selling it because after about a year, I would buy a new game and within three months, it wouldn't recognize it. I bought the X-BOX way after the bugs were worked out! Never again will I own an X-BOX! Bill Gates has enough money and so do the people who bought him out. I actually would go with Nintendo for now because it's not a bad system and it's cheaper, not to mention, there are some pretty cool games and features that go along with it. If you go with a PS3, good luck finding one! I'm all about the Sony product but I myself might wait and even purchase a Wii! Whatever you do, have fun!

Right now your best bet is the Wii or Xbox. The Xbox has been out longer meaning all the kinks have been worked out. The Wii is cheap and has awesome games like Zelda: Twilight Princess. Their new controllers is cool and there is a better chance of getting this than the already scarce PS3.

get the xbox 360.wait for the PS3 hype to go away and let them fix all the factory defects that come with first generation consoles and then get it.i dont know what to tell you about the nintendo , i think it looks all cool but wont compare to the other two.
Thats what Im gonna do.ima get a xbox 360 next week amd wait for the PS3 later in the spring of 2007.

Wii. It is cheap. Good titles at launce. And you can get it on Sunday. Not wait for 4 months due to not shipping enough.

id go with the 360 and the wii. the ps3 is too expensive and besides resistance:fall of man, i havent seen any games for it that i want

nintento's have always been crap, so thats out the window!
xbox 360 is good but not as good as the ps2, so thats out the window as well! and your left your dream gamestaion, the wonderful playstaion three! its worth the money! really! trust!
