As a female, I like 4x4's answer!
The clitoris is erectile tissue like the penis. When stimulated properly, it can cause an orgasm.
Clitoral stimulation is generally best done, in my opinion, with the tongue as it has a softer touch compared to fingers and provides it's own lubrication. Don't get too rough with it unless your lady friend asks you to!
To see a photo of where it is go to:

Don't go there during work or school!

After posting, I noted that one poster said it lets you pee. This is NOT true. While the male urethra exits through the head of the penis, the female urethra exits below the clitoris and above the vaginal opening. Check out the picture I posted above for the exact location.

The clitoris is a female sexual organ. In humans, the visible knob-like portion is located near the anterior junction of the labia minora, above the opening of the vagina. The female clitoris corresponds to homologous parts of the male penis, i.e., embryologically it comes from the same tissue that forms the penis. It contains roughly the same number of nerve endings as the penis, and it is particularly well-suited for sexual stimulation. Stimulation of the clitoris is most frequent way to reach orgasm by the woman.

Actually, my anatomy teacher in college said they all humans start out with a Clitoris, even men do. When the sex is decided, either male or female, by the male sperm, the clitoris either stays a clit for female, or the clitoris enlarges in length, and what becomes the head of the penis is the clit, that is why it is so sensitive on the male

None... it's just there in case the fetus was to develop into a male, then it would've turned into a penis. Same reason men have nipples, they don't have a function, but are there incase we would have developed into a female. We all start out with the same body parts when concieved.

It's sole function is pleasure for the female. Otherwise, she would probably not wish to engage in the intercourse necessary for procreation. This is simply nature's way of making sure that there is continuation of the species.

OK. What I think is of most importance is this : "it is particularly well-suited for sexual stimulation."
But if you need to know more (which I doubt) check this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clitoris

THE ONE AND ONLY FUNCTION THAT A FEMALE CLITORIS HAS IS BUSTING A NUT. THAT IS ALL THAT IT IS THERE FOR, SO THAT A WOMAN CAN BUST A NUT. NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.
