The PS3 is the most expensive Next-gen console on the market anyway. This is because of Sony's decision to include a Blue-ray player. Sony said that it will future proof the console for ten years, but whether the games will need the Blue-ray player is debateable.
But I do agree. $9000 is incredibly expensive. I think people are just being crazy asking for prices like that, Blue-ray player or not.

People want to get the PS3 now because they think if they don't
get it now, it is not going to be cool when the price goes down.
Also, there are only going to be about 100,000 to 1,000,000
consoles coming to the US and even less in Europe. The people
who get them first are basically the "Beta testers" of the console
and will experience the first bugs, but they think it is worth it to be
the first one on their block to have a PS3 and they can brag to
their friends and et cetera.

Sick isn't it? My son freelance writes for the console gaming industry and he just called me about this. He is as shocked as I am. Guy on Ebay has one for about 9000 bucks, and the crazy thing is, he will probably exceed that. In 6 months, you will find them for the MSRP everywhere and there aren't many games out. We have lost our collective minds.....

Because people are so caught up with being the first and some people that material items make them the best...simply put lots of people are stupid.

They are stupid. They want it now. Funny thing is people tried doing something like this in Japan and LOST money hahaha, guess that proves the Japanese are more intelligent.
