In regard to a previous answerer's comment, HP has discontinued the HP 3210 for the newer HP Photosmart C6180.
In regard to your question, it really depends on what else you would like to do with your printer. Is it strictly only for photos? Would you like to scan, copy, print, or fax as well? Whatever you would like to do, I would definately go with HP inkjet printers.
I personally have the HP Photosmart C5180. In my opinion, it is the best photo printer on the market. It also prints regular documents (30 pages per minute), and copies and scans. It has a 2.4 inch LCD screen where you can view and edit your photos without even having your computer on. It accepts any digital camera's memory card. It will print photo sizes from 3x5 up to 8x24.
Photos are waterproof, smudgeproof, and fade resistant up to 100 years. Cost per photo is as low as 24 cents and the quality is very superior to what you would get from Wal Mart. This printer uses six individual ink cartridges that you can purchase individually for $10 ($18 for the larger black cartridge), or you can buy all 6 cartridges and 150 sheets of 4x6 photo paper in a combo pack for $37. This is the printer I recommend. This printer costs between $169 (usual on-sale price) and $199 (normal price).
The cost of printing photos on Epson or Canon are very high. You will pay 55 cents per photo on Epson or Canon. That is why I recommend the HP printers that print photos at 24 cents each. Also, I am more impressed with the photo-quality on the new 6-cartridge HP printers.
For 4x6 and 5x7 photos only, look into the HP Photosmart A617 or A617.
If you do not want to copy or scan, but would like to print 8x10 photos, try the D7160 or D7360.
For photos up to 13x19 look into the B8350.
The links I have included will show you all the HP Photosmart printers and their capabilities as well as other features and specifications.

I have had HP and Epson and they do make good color pictures. I am currently recommeding something from the Canon Pixma line however.
After using the Canon, I am convinced that the other two named earlier are more interesting in selling high price cartridges. Get a printer with at least 4 if not 5 cartridges. That way when you run out of Cyan, you don't need to buy a tri-color cartridge, you can just get the Cyan at about $10.
Check out the reviews on Canon Pixma printers and I am sure you will find them to rate at the top.

There is an HP printer that is really good. It is an all-in-one printer called the HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-one. You can get it at Best Buy. It has 7 cartriges (one for each color: black, magenta, pink, yellow, light yellow, cyan, light cyan). You can buy them induvidually or all together. It also prints 33 black ppm/31 color ppm. It also has four ports in it that you can put different types of camera cards into so that you can print them without your computer being on. If you want to see it, you can go to http://www.ritzcamera.com/product/813750866.htm
I would recomend it to anyone.

The best photo printer? Professionals use the Epson Stylus Pro series. I use Epson. But they are not "affordable." Epsons are a little buggy but you can't beat the quality of the image. Good but affordable would be Canon.
