So I just got back into taking pointe after six years of being off. I've always worn Blocks or Grishko, but was wondering if anyone has another suggestion. I'm a little older now and don't have the same strength as I did when I stopped pointe in 2000. Suggestions?

Gaynor Mindens. They are more expensive, but they last longer and don't really need to be broken in. They have so many different types of shoe that they can fit almost anyone. You can get a wide, average, or narrow toe box; a wide, medium or narrow width; a shank that fits your arch (They have 5 different stiffnesses); and several other things that you can toy with. As long as you are properly trained and your shoes fit properly, they don't, contrary to rumour, make you sink into your shoes or 'do the work for you'.

Good luck to you! : )

umm i guess u can check out the capezio and bloch website and look at the pointe shoes there, they usually give a description of the pointe shoe and people who have bought it give reviews about it. Hope this helps
