i heard on Paul Harvey that a dog and a cat mated

yeah it can totally happen my neighbor's dog got really fat and we thought there was something wrong with her. we brought her into the vet and they had to take her in for like three days, she had to have a c-section and they took out three small kittens. They don't really look like dogs in any respect, except for the fact that they're much larger than domesticated house cats.

it was so weird! but they let me keep one so it's all good :)

Dogs give birth to pups, cats give birth to kittens, neither give birth to babies! It is a little known fact that cats can only breed amongst a very small gene pool of other cats so there are not that many different types. Dogs on the other hand are able to breed with any other dog regardless of the breed - the only animal on the planet that can do this!! No one knows why. Dogs and cats cannot therefore interbreed.

Unequal chromosome counts. A dog doesn't have the same number of chromosomes as a cat so their gametes could never connect to form another organism.

They might have mated but it is impossible for them to have a puppy/kitten. Just remember dogs are horny.

no it is not possible they are differnt species and have a differnnt genome sturcture as well as differnt chromosome counts
