What is the best type of shoe for Plumbers? My boyfriend wanted nothing but shoes for Christmas and I want to get him a shoe specifically for his job, because at this point he'll just put on any shoe to go do a Re-Pipe. So if there are any experts who can help me out, I'd gladly appriciate it!

My boss is a former pliumber-he said a heelless workboot-you dont want to carry other peoples s--t home with you. steel toed would probably be appropriate-but it depends on where he is working-in a plant vs. private homes---good luck!!!! I wish my gf was as thoughtful!!!

I didn't know Plumbers had to wear special shoes but I would think some work boots would be good. They have to be comfortable though so I would go to the store and ask someone to help you find the most comfortable work boots.

It would depend on what type of work he does.
Installing pipes in new construction (residential or commercial) then I would look for a good work boot with a steel toe. He doesn't want broken toes. And a good grip on the sole so he doesn't slip on the gravel and mud at the site. I would look for a boot for added ankle support since he would be on his feet so much, and plenty of padding on the insole.

Repairs on existing pipes (residential or commercial) then I would skip the steel toe, and look for comfortable shoes, and a flatter sole in case any overflow or flooding occurred at a job, but still slip resistent. He doesn't want to track around that mess, but he also doesn't want to slip and fall into it either. I would get a shoe instead of a boot for ease in bending over and squatting. A boot might cut into his ankle. But again, a padded insole for comfort, and it would be waterproof so his feet would stay dry and warm.

There is no specific shoe a plumber has to wear, because their feet aren't in too much danger. My uncle has done the job for a million years, and wears Chuck Taylors to the job site daily.
