To play World of Warcraft it costs $14.99 (US dollars) a month, or you can buy 7 months at a time for $11.99 (US Dollars).
There is only one CD for the game you can buy right now... its just regular World of Warcraft. Of coarse there are new updates that come out everyonce in a while that automatically download when you log in.
There is a new expansion pack coming out sometime soon, im not sure exactly when, but you dont need it play, but you will be missing out on alot.
Its a pretty fun game to play, but it could get a little addicting...

I've been in love with Blizzard games since I was 14 years old. I remember starting with Starcraft, moving onto Diablo, then finally finding my true love and passion, World of Warcraft. I've been absolutely addicted to this game for the past few years now. It's such a beautiful, mysterious, but often complex and complicated world of mystery and intrigue. I have, at many times, found myself where you may be now... confused or stumped in some way- and not knowing exactly where to turn or what to do. Or maybe just unsure of how to advance, or reach the next level in my gaming experience. These road-blocks ranged from very simple, basic, or otherwise minor problems to complicated and complex issues. Both technical and in-game. I did and still do find GREAT help, on ANYTHING WoW related, within the infamous Zygor guides at http://www.zygorguides.pcti-system.com .. These guides are like the Bible of WoW, the Encyclopedia Britannica for anything World of Warcraft. My go-to guide for just about anything and everything. And unlike others, these guides are integrated IN-GAME. Listed below are some of the things that currently come to mind:
-1-90 In-Game Leveling and Loremaster Guide
-Dailies and Events Guide
-Dungeon and Gear Guide
-Professions and Achievements Guide
-Pets and Mounts Guide
-Titles, Reputation, and Macros Guide
...The list goes on and on.
Anyways, I hope I was of some help to you. Above all, my greatest recommendation to you from personal experience, is DON'T FORGET that there is still a REAL world out there! Lol. The biggest problem for me that I've come across is my absolute addiction to this game. Like many others out there, WoW has taken over much of my life and free-time. Proceed with caution! If you are into MMORPGs then yes you should buy/play World of Warcraft. However, you HAVE to start with the basic World of Warcraft game, and NOT any of the expansions. The basic game includes level 1-60. With Burning Crusade it adds the 60-70 levels, the ability to go to the "Outlands", and includes Draenai/Blood Elf classes to play. With Wrath of the Lich King you can go through the 70-80 level bracket, go to Northrend, and play the Death Knight class. (Note, you need like a level 55 in order to unlock these, however all new DKs start at level 55 instead of level 1) Then finally Catacylsm is the 80-85 bracket of levels, which is the latest gameplay and adds the Goblin and Worgen races to play.

World of Warcraft is $14.99 per month, but you can pay less if you buy more time at once. The game usually comes with one month for free. it is $20. I think the boxed copy always comes with 30 days free, but I'm not sure. The expansion isn't out until January. It's called the Burning Crusade. The rest of the updates are free and you download them automatically when you log on to play.

You only need to purchase the standard World of Warcraft (WOW) game from any reputable store. The updates will come automatically. When I bought mine the price was $45 (US currency).
The cost can be broken down anywhere from $14.99 per month to $11.99 per month depending on how many months you pay for in advance.

just buy the standard WoW CD. it comes with a month free. right now it's only $20 because the new expansion pack is coming out in about two months. Usually it's about $50.
the per-month cost is $14.99, but it get's cheaper per month if you pay in bulk (i.e. for a year or six months)
