Can I invite a friend to play an xbox live if they are on silver membership? AND VICE VERSA?

You cannot play on-line with a Silver account. They need to use a Gold account to play on-line.

On a silver membership you can hold a friends list but you cannot connect to the game servers but you can talk to your friends via voice or video chat. I suggest you get Xbox live gold it is well worth it
