I really can't get my head round it. Why should it matter to anyone what two consenting adult's do in their own time? I think it should be more appropriate to make gay sex illegal, seeing as that's a whole lot more unnatural than a male and a female trying something different.

As far as i'm aware, in the UK in the 1800's anal sex between a man and a woman was made illegal because prostitutes used to use it instead of vaginal to avoid becoming pregnant and the governmant wanted to stop prostitution so they made hetrosexual anal sex illegal. Although this law never covered sex between two men for obvious reasons. It was changed in the 90's however and is now legal in the UK to any people over 16.

from what i understand i think it is still illegal in the UK because the law was past about 100 years ago where is was seen as wrong for a male/female to participate in bum fun, the law is still there but its no big deal as long as there is consent.
as for gay bum fun, that was never made illegal because 100 years ago, they thought that kind of thing never happened and didnt even know what a homosexual was, so was never spoke about, its along those lines anyway

but now as long as there is consent from both parties, its all fine and dandy, theres nothing wrong with it, its up to the persons involved, hope that helps

UK: Up to about 20years ago it was a serious criminal offense in the UK to have anal sex with a female (oddly enough it was legal to have male anal sex in private). However, the law then changed and as long as it is with consent and the female is over 16, it is no offense.............. As my wife said 'They can make it legal, provided they don't make it compulsory'.

The answer is because in this culture and country (UK) the atitudes towards anal sexual intercourse are rather pruedish. It definately has alot to do with the country emerging from a christian religous tradition and anything in terms of sexual topic's carried a heavy taboo's but anal sex was "the" most taboo of all.

Why? because anal sex is associated with "a dirty" part of the body i.e. excratment, & secondly it was more taboo because it has nothing to do with the getting of childen (nothing to do with procreation) so it was a big no! no! in religous terms and still remains a VERY BIG taboo in many countries NOT just the UK. Its still terribly taboo in many african countries I believe.

**Anal sex is still a reason so many people are against gay people, so homophobic. Anal gay sex challenges the idea of the purity of hetrosexual married manogamous sex with a single partner.

It's not illegal everywhere, to my knowledge, but I just can't see the point of it. I suppose you *might* get away with arguing that it could be seen as a method of contraception, but then you'd probably get flamed by people saying that contraception is wrong in the first place so your argument is, ipso facto, just as bad as whatever their original gripe was. I personally don't care what you do, just don't do it to me.

I've never tried it as I'm a law abiding citizen but i could be tempted to break the law for you just this once..As you said what the hell has it got to do with others if 2 consenting adults want to experiment sexually

Because it's a pain in the bum? - No I don't see the logic in it either, surely it should be the same law for all.

(Oh and why did someone bring Christians into it again?)
