There may be traditions that only prepare turkey for Thanksgiving, but there is no handbook that says you can't do it however you like. In fact, at the first "Thanksgiving" gathering we've always been told about~ they probably had fish, swan, eagle, seal and many more animals that we wouldn't dream of eating this day and time.
At our home, there's turkey , baked ham, and a plethora of casseroles and veggies. Not to mention chicken dressing.

I've fixed turkey and ham when I have a large Thanksgiving dinner. For smaller dinners, I fix turkey on Thanksgiving and ham for Christmas.

I'm breaking tradition this year - my fiance's kids don't like turkey, so we'll be having a pot roast for Thanksgiving dinner. I will still, however, make a green bean casserole.

My family cooks ham also. Then we have our Chicken and Dressing. I think that is about all the meats my family cooks.

Turkey is okay, but so messy and who really eats all those leftovers, esp. in a small family? We cook a spiral ham! Mmmmm...ham....
