Before attempting to remove malware you must switch off System Restore as back up files will be hiding in there, and it will just restore itself. Go to Start - programs - accessories - system tools - system restore.
Run your anti virus and anti spyware in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.
Then beef up your security. Its easier to prevent malware getting on to your sytem in the first place rather than trying to remove it. All the following programs are free for personal use;

Youre problem sounds more like Malware (malicious Software) and is usually downloaded and installed onto your computer without you ever knowing about it. Most of these programs are pornograhic websites trying to steer money to the sites owners. Malware is notoriously hard to remove from computers and I have personally had to completely format my hard drive and reinstall my operating system 3 times in the last 10 years due to this type of bug.
Go to microft.com and get thier free adware remover. Also a search for free adware removal tools will turn up a lot of choices. try some since some seem to be better at detecting certain wares that others. Good luck, back up your personal files before gonig to indepth since some of these programs will actually take your operating system down when you remove them.

Have you gone into Internet Options and cleaned it off. To do this: Step 1. Click Start then Control Panel. Click Security Center Click Internet Options. Click General Tab On Browsing history Tempory files, history, saveded passwords and web information. I click Delete to all the above. Another windo comes up. I delete all. I also delete files and setting inthe square box that says stand by add on. Click yes. Wait for delete process. Click OK. Step 2. Empty Recycle Bin. Step 3. Click Start. Go into All Programs. Click Accesories. Scroll down to System Tools. Click Disk Clean Up Then Click Disk Defragment. This Disk Defragment can take hours or if you do this ofter it will take 1 hour or so. If you do this often it might say you don't have to do it. Then run your anti virus and spyware. That should do it. Otherwise maybe some one else knows the answer. I do this once every two weeks. I do step one sometimes daily. Hope this helps.

Yea lavasoft.com does have adware personal for free. BUT I recommend Windows Defender from microsoft.com......Why, because it is free and it gives you continous protection by monitoring and blocking spyware. If by chance you cannot download neither one in regular mode then you can shut your system off and upon restart tap the F8 key twice softly and it will pull up the windows advanced options menu. Go to safe mode with networking and choose windows xp. Let it load and then get on the internet and do it from there in safe mode.
