Yahoo news:

LONDON (Reuters) - A man convicted of what has been described as the country's first "web-rage" attack, was jailed for 2-1/2 years on Friday for assaulting a man he had exchanged insults with over the Internet.

Paul Gibbons, 47, from south London, admitted he had attacked John Jones in December 2005 after months of exchanging abuse with him via an Internet chatroom dedicated to discussing Islam.

Should we all start being a bit nicer to each other on here now, then?

I should have included the whole piece. This guy hacked into the other one's computer, and tracked him down - so it was a physical assault. Scary. I am going to be dead, dead nice on here now.

i see your point, i also read about this but i suppose its no diffrent than a chat in a pub that gets out of hand if you know what i mean, the diffence with the net is, that most people will use a alter ego when they start there insults, people have been chatting on the net for years and this is the first one in the u.k, to get jailed not bad stats eh?, it will never stop on here because are that sad sad loser's who have nothing better to do with there life's, no doubt these people were bullied in school, and this is there way to hit back, am having a bit of a problem with a guy who like's to insult me, he is a prime example, i have no time for these loser's mouthing off, he will get no more attention from me

I am still a bit puzzled as to why this is being called "Web Rage".

Would it have been called "telephone rage" if he had chatted by phone before driving HOURS to go and batter the crap out of someone?

At least with "RoadRage" the whole event is on the road - it makes sense.

In answer to your question, nicer would be good - but I doubt it is going to happen anytime soon.

Honestly both men behaved badly. They should have stopped chatting to one other or blocked/ignored the other.

In America, this would be news but it wouldn't be something new. I have to say some Americans have the capacity for rage in an instance or get angry over trival matters.

i flow out of my thank you to no longer be offensive here yet on party have made some feedback in my solutions that earned me a pair of nasty emails, yet I evaluate the source. i do no longer think of all people that is to be taken so actually to have confidence they are plausible to all people yet those closest to them. we've some whackjob conspiracy theorists who get actual mad in case you do no longer consider them yet no longer something to take heavily.

Your joking aren't you?

You can't get away with anything on here without a hundred abuse buttons clicking away and violation emails sent out.

With all the really bad violence, porn, and worse on the net which can be accessed via Yahoo, i really think they are being hypocritical when you get deleted for saying ****.

(See what i mean!)

you need a licence to have a dog,
a car, a TV but not a blog
no licence needed, to have a baby
don't get me started, it drives me crazy
anyone can join and write on this site
say what you want, it can even be shite
but letting it get, right into your life
going round houses, armed with a knife
what's that about, possessed by a devil
Somebody stop me, before I get to that level

This is not the first time. Remember Silent Bob & Jay also beat up everyone that made fun of them.
