I saw Good Morning America this morning & they showed a picture of a cat that suposedly gave birth to puppies in Brazil... The cat's name is Mimi. A person from the local university is investigating the claims... I don't think this is possible. I think that if this were possible, it would have happened long before now!!
It also seems strange that the "kittens" of the litter all died, and there aren't even pictures of them.
There are a lot of instances where animal mothers take care of infants that are not their own species, and I think that is what is probably happening here.

You have to remember that a cross between a horse and a donkey is an ***, the cross between a Lion and a Tiger is a learcat.
The cross polination of species is only viable between genetically compatable animals.
As above a Horse and a Donkey are of the same genus as are Lions and Tigers however Cats and Dogs are not so it is not possible (but will be if Geneticists get there way)

No they can't. They are genetically incompatible.
Apart from which a male cat has special 'equipment' that he needs to make the female cat ovulate (back ward pointing spines - ouch - no wonder the female cat screams!) whereas the equipment on a male dog is all smooth - so no eggs - no babies.
What I find incredibly silly is that it is in more than just the silly newspapers! Obviously not much else happening in the world today.

It's not possible for a cat and dog to breed, just look how many people have cats and dogs living togther. I think the people who
"say" this happend are just looking for fame and $$$$. i would wait until a DNA profile is done before beleiving it. I bet the cat found some abandoned puppies and took them in.

Absolutely not. It's impossible. Sometimes though, a cat may play the mom role for a little of puppies or a dog will play the role for a litter of kittens.

It's a misunderstanding... the problem is that some people are so naïve that they actually believed it...
I don't know why the media is giving so much attention to it... even the international media!!!
Brazil has so many other issues to discuss...

God created the animals to breed after THEIR OWN KIND. i'm sure that if it was possible we would have heard about it more than just this one time in Brazil. there would have been tons of cat-dog things running around. talk about controlling the pet population!

No, genetically they are incompatable, even if they were in some way able to mate, the offspring would not be viable and would not be born.

of course they can breed together, that's what your parents did, lol, I'm just kidding. That was kinda messed up...sorry. Yeah, that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I was always told to believe nothing you hear, and only half of what you see.
