You could use either. It depends on the situation. The first one indicates that you are still enrolled and pursuing your degree. The second implies that you've left your studies for some reason.
Since you seem to be still enrolled, use the first.

It does seem a bit wordy though...

You could say

XYZ University
Candidate, Master of Arts in Teaching

Masters of Arts in Teaching
December 2006 (just write the expected graduation date)

coursework: Teaching 1, Teaching 2 .... (write relevant courses)

I would like to add one more thing. If you have a degree be sure you include the degree on the resume.

Correct:
State U
BS Mathematics
May 2006

Incorrect:
State U
Major in Mathematics
2002 - 2006

The second version does not indicate that you graduated. Some people who attend college for four years (or more) but do not graduate will use version #2 on a resume and hope the reader will jump to an incorrect conclusion.
