It all depends on what you want out of it! I have had a 30GB Creative Jukebox and a 30GB Apple IPOD. Between the two, IPOD is definitely superior for ease of use and appearance. The Creative one was about $100 less - but it was bulky and didn't have a color screen. If you aren't really great with computers, I would definitely go for the IPOD - you can't really beat it.

As for being the BEST...it's always going to be what you prefer. But Ipods DO have an edge on the competition because they are compatible with so many different products and computers. I was always a doubter of the iPod until I got one, and now I realize why I did. The menu screen is great, and a feature that doesn't come with most mp3s. However, microsoft is just now launching a new mp3, so you should look into that one too.

You can go for other MP3 players other than the Ipod, because, Ipod isnt the best around, and you can have a very good one, what an Ipod got, for cheaper.. If you talk about money go for something different. I believe there is no such thing as 'best MP3 player' available.

I bought my hubby an ipod last Christmas and it didn't even last a year. That was a lot down the drain. The hard disk wasn't reading songs, the ipod kept crashing and most time wouldn't connect to the pc for transfers.

His friend has a Creative and loves it. He hasn't had any problems. We are planning on getting a Creative as it is cheaper and can play an 1 hour + of video.

Okay if you want Videos along with music dont waste money on an IPOD Video, Get a Creative Zen Vision:M It is a bit bulkier but it only costs 230 dollars, Plays and records radio, has a microphone, and it holds 15,000 songs or 14 hours of Video, Also the battery life is better!

Every non iPod/creative Flash memory mp3 player is made with Samsung chips/memory, as they have the patents....
iPods are great, and you will have NO trouble if you use it correctly, ie: battery care.. virus scan the songs before adding etc, etc.. in currys (uk) you can get a 2gb (huge memory) tiny sized mp3 for around the £25 mark...........BARGAIN

Nah Ipods suck! Creative is awesome! You just have an OLD on user above me! Ipods suck because they restricts you to much and you have to use the crappy itunes!

And that's not a fair comparison user below me! Sony's MP3's players suck

personally i prefer the Iriver to the ipod, it has a drag and drop type interface which is easy to use, can take mp3 and WMA files and is a lot cheaper. like most apple products, they are style over substance

What to see what happen with the new Mircosoft Zune which is launched soon, it could be great. There is also the Creative Zen, a lot of people rave about Archos who have them...
