Pokemon Emerald help?

I just got pokemon emerald
whice starting pokemon should i choose and what pokemon should i catch>?.

well, your choice is between:

treecko - who evolves into grovyle then sceptil, always grass type, strong aganist water, ground, rock, weak aganist fire, ice, poision, flying, bug

torchic - who evolves into combusken then blaziken, always fire, combusken and blaziken also fighting, fire strong aganist grass, ice, bug, fire weak aganist water, ground, rock, fighting strong aganist normal, ice, rock, dark, steel, fighting weak aganist flying, psychic

and

mudkip - who evolves into marshtomp then swampert, always water and ground, water strong aganist fire, ground, rock, water weak aganist grass, electric, ground strong aganist fire, electric, poison, rock, steel, ground weak aganist water, grass, ice
the choice is yours just weigh up the good and the bad factors or just go for the one you like

you should try to catch all the pokemon you can, then trade too get the rest, so that you can complete your pokedex

ok well i bought my emerald game used so the person who had it b4 i bought it had chosen torchic so i can't tell u who 2 chose
just pick the 1 u think will be strong as they level up. because the person who had this game b4 i bought it maxed out all the important items
1-rare candies
2-aurora ticket-is for deoxys another nintendo event
3-mystic ticket-is for ho-oh & lugia not sure though
4-old sea chart- is for mew but u have to go to a nintendo event in ny 2 get it which happend already and i missed it :(
5-master balls
and this game is more challenging than sapphire & ruby and buying a used game u get 2 finish somebody else's work which i don't mind especially if it's a pokemon game good luck on your pokemon journey :)

well, i started with torchic, but i think you should choose it yourself,torchic is weak against the first gym leader, so i have to catch a silcoon and level it up until beautifly and learn some powerful attacks, you should catch a fighting type, a electric type(mine's a pikachu, can't resist its cuteness), a dark type,a psychic type, and the rest you can catch whatever you like, the elite 4, the first one uses dark types, the second uses ghost types, the third uses water/ice types and the last one as usual uses dragon types, which you can counter by having a dragon type or a ice type, and the last one uses a water type
