Why does David Bowie not release funky music anymore (eg Ziggy Stardust)?

Hi Laura.
In a peak lasting from "The Man Who Sold the World" to the last embers of "Let's Dance", Bowie was the greatest musical genius Britain has produced. Sadly, like all of us, he got old and nobody can be good forever! He is still better than most, but a shadow of the great artist he was at his peak. Let us just love him for that and enjoy what he did.

its called a themed album. he was into visual art during the diamond dogs / ziggy stardust era that was par for performance back then. now music is so conservative...its just not relevant anymore, unfortunately, makes me feel like a freak :(

I thought Heathen and Reality both had some great stuff. Of course there's no topping his run from Hunky Dory through Scary Monsters but that doesn't make his recent work bad.

When artists give up the drugs, get married and settle down, the music tends to deteriorate. Ditto when they get paid for it. Look at Oasis and Razorlight...

Because funky stuff isn't in keeping with his current incarnation. Haven't you noticed how he re-invents himself on a regular basis? I'm not knocking him for it....it's just what he does.

the goverment are keeping a eye on him, same as paul hardcastle. and so on so on ,he probaly cant find any insperation , or he is just enjoying life like he should do ,and we pester them to right new work ,when it was taken from a passing stage of time, one off feelings and thoughts .
