That is a question only your doctor can answer. Not gaining weight could be fine, or it could mean your baby isn't growing the way he/she is supposed to. Just because your belly shows doesn't mean everything is well inside the uterus. It's probably nothing to be concerned about, but if you haven't gained weight, you should talk to your doctor. You should be gaining at least a couple of pounds per week.

Like I said, whether you show or don't show has nothing to do with it. I've known women with big bellies who deliver small babies, and women with small babies deliver big babies. One of my co-workers had a big belly, baby weighed a little over 6 pounds. The other had a relatively smaller belly; her baby weighed over 8 pounds. So like I said, that has nothing to do with the baby's health and overall growth. Only your doctor can tell you what is normal for you and your baby. Good luck!

You should mention it to your doctor. If the doctor seems fine with it you should be fine. When you weigh yourself, do it at the same time every day (preferably first thing in the morning before you eat). You should be starting to gradually gain weight at this point. Like a pound a week. What I have heard is normal is that you usually gain 3-5 pounds in the first 3 months and then about a pound a week after that. You aren't really too far behind and you could start gaining soon. If you are sick to your stomach alot, you may not gain as much. If the doctor is worried about your weight gain, he will get you to do something about it (like get you to drink ensure or something like it). I wouldn't worry about it at this stage yet anyway. But like I said, you should start gaining a little bit soon. Good Luck!

Hi Honey. What does your doctor say? I would think that she would have expressed some concern about your lack of weight gain. It is definitely abnormal. You should not have gained a great deal of weight by this point but at least ten or twelve pounds would be appropriate. I would say that this is a concern and something that you should definitely talk to her about.
Are you eating properly? You should be eating frequent small meals and at this point in your pregnancy ( In fact during your entire pregnancy) you should be getting lots a protein.
Hasn't anyone else talked to you about this?
Have you been having severe morning sickness that is keeping you from gaining weight?
Are you taking prenatal vitamins? Make sure they contain Folic Acid.
If your next appointment is not very soon I would call and ask to talk to the doctor. She should be willing to call you back and when she does discuss this issue with her.
Take care of yourself and good luck.

The average weight gain for "normal weight" is 25-35 lbs at full term. You should have gained some weight due to fluids and fetus, I would check with OB , I actually lost body weight in my first pregnancy and gained baby weight , I was the same weight at delivery from when I first found out I was pregnant.

the weight gain for someone who is 12 to 20 weeks pregnant should be around 6-8 pounds. you would see a thicker waist and a noticeable belly because your utterus, fetus, breast, and blood supply are growing, the norm is you bgin gaining about 1lb per week. 25 to 35 lbs gain during pregnancy is for average women. 28- 40 lbs for underwight women and 15 to 25 lbs for overweight women.
if your doctor shows no concern and baby is healthy, just remember to have 3 well-balanced meals a day. drink your water, and satisfy your bigger appetite with fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein rich foods, rather thatn high fatty snacks or sweets.. and remeber that not everybodies pregnancy experiences are the same.

They say you should only gain about 25 pounds when pregnant. Many women don't gain a lot of weight the first couple months due to the nausea that they experience. At your next visit double check how much your Obstetrician thinks you should be gaining.

I think you should be asking your OB that question. Usually woman put on weight during their pregnancy but I know some woman who had such bad morning sickness that they lost weight in the first few months of their pregnancies, and later on in their pregnancies, they put on weight. I would say that if you don't start to put on weight, from now on, definitely go see your doctor. I put on weight from the start of my pregnancy, so I cannot relate to what you are going through. But at five months, I started to regain my apetite for certain things and the morning sickness stopped and I started to eat more although it wasn't large quantities. Just makesure you take care of yourself and the baby and talk to your doctor if you are worried about the growth of your baby. Only a OB can monitor the growth and health of your baby.

I only gained 1lb by the time I was 4 months pregnant. When the baby starts to really grow then you will gain more weight. Nothing to worry about it if the baby is fine.

good luck to you.

Your weight is fine. I lost 30lbs with my first pregnancy ( I had extremely bad morning sickness) and I lost 11 lbs with my second child (morning sickness again, but I would call it all day sickness) And usually you start gaining more weight near the end n e ways!
Good luck

Yes your weight sounds fine, I stayed at the same weight for awhile on my first pregnancy. As long as the baby is growing fine that is what matters.
