It is a top secret testing facility and it is generally acknowledged that the 'stealth' aircraft were tested/flown there.
It has been a top secret facility for a long time and the US is actually glad to have the Nutters believe whatever nonsense they want to belive, becasue it draws attention away from the real R&D which is undertaken there.

Possibly xenotec but very very unlikely: if you can get from one star to another you are not gonna just crash.
So if it's just military research, the value for money of it's budget is an unknown, but if high altitude stealth bombers is it, then maybe a rip off.
As for doomsday technology. If it exists, it's the sort of thing you bring out only if you are going to use it. Otherwise the sudden change in the power ratio could panic everyone into fighting.
Still, unlikely this option, I'm not all that sure how you can top Nukes. Maybe some nasty viral thingy.
Ultimately what you can be sure of is that the whole Area 51 thing has been a commercial sucess, a good distraction and effective use of propaganda to imply secret military stuff, 'keep em guessing'. Which now no longer has to exist.

Area 51 is thought to be a very large government cover up. Perhaps one of the largest conspiracys there is. It's shrowded in mystery. It's believed to be a top secret military base. I believe that are latest and greatest technology is being built there as we speak. Your not allowed withing 15 miles of that base, or the use of deadly force will be used on you. So there has to be something big there. They may be building the UFO's people see regularly. You never will know unless the people rise up and question authority. As far as I know it's a high tech base that uses millions, maybe even billions of tax dollars to build stuff that many of us will never and can never know about. Where do you think their building these planes at? you guessed it-Area 51. At Area 51 there are many things to know. They have an airstrip over 5 miles in length but deny such planes of great technology exist. All of this of course is being done with tax dollars with no one in the US ever knowing about it. The security at Area 51 is so tight, that the commanders at the advanced aircraft testing facility have abosulute power. Your rights will be gone, it's not like a public agency where they're concerned about employee safety, rights or anything close to contemporary business ethics.

There's pros and cons to how its operated....of course we need a secret facility to test our advanced aircraft, but the downside, is the impact on the employees working there, especially from waste dumping.

Its a big empty warehouse. Area 51 was a misunderstanding, from which thousands of people have benefited, financially, from it. The more cagey the US government is about it, the more money the 'UFO industry' makes. Also, the more secretive the gonernment is, the more the public dont trust them, and therefore fear them.

The government always hide things, but not alien spacecrafts. Something of ours crash in Mexico a long time ago and it got blown out of proportion. Area 51 is just one of the places our government hides new technology.

Seriously they have nothing there.
If they want their base's to be top secret they are underground or in the middle of knowhere.
They used area 51 to distract people from the real deal somewhere else. :o)
