Here's two of my favs. Apocalypse Now & The War at Home. The second one is not actually a war movie but is about the affects the Vietnam war had on a guy and his family. I can't find a copy of The Killing Fields anywhere. I've never seen it and would love to be able to rent it

Hell! My favourites - and in no particular order!

Bridge Over the River Kwai
Zulu
The Dirty Dozen
The Dambusters
Spartacus (don't try telling me it's not a war film!)

Guns of Navarone
The Great Escape
They also come to mind!

There were also lots of black and white films that were merely for propaganda - but they worked for me. The old navy ones are pretty good, shame I can't think of any of the titles at the moment!

I also wanted to add Carry on Up The Khyber - but hubby reckons that I was being facetious!

I agree that The Killing Fields is one of the best war films. l also enjoyed War and Rembrance, Saving Private Ryan, and The Dirty Dozen.

Where Eagles Dare - contains one of my favourite lines of all time (Richard Burton: "Broadsword calling Danny Boy, Broadsword calling Danny Boy")

Glory - great film, brilliant acting from Matthew Broderick, Morgan Freeman and the delectable Denzel Washington

Saving Private Ryan - really brings home what war must really be like

Three Kings - cheeky little number!

I was going to say Bridge Too Far but I guess you already had it.
Saving Private Ryan and Sums of all Fears (it's not war but there is war history in it)
