I was just wondering because to be an OB/GYN (especially an OB) it seems like such a 'pro-life' sort of field and if abortion was part of the training, I wonder how they feel about themselves ethically or if they view it as just part of the job.

I've always wanted to ask my OB, but I never wanted to cross the boundary of being too personal with her.

I was hoping an actual OB/GYN would answer...any out there?

Not wanting to get too personal with her means I didn't want to invade HER privacy...that's what I meant

yes, but not in that way. I mean, they are trained on doing D & C which a totally different thing....also they need to know other stuff for when there's a still born and things like that. Doing D &C is not much different (the procedure I mean) from the procedure of doing an abortion. Of course they know it, but for different reasons.

i imagine they could be qualified to finish abortions. I surely imagine you'll could be a known practitioner your self, and likely a professional, to verify no matter if the honestly OB/GYN certification is major/correct/proper. I only do not understand adequate about that element of human biology.

I think that they do learn how too..becuase they could go into a fielf where they work in a clinic. I am sure they have to know how to perform one. However, they can not perform one in the office.

Latin Momm gave you the right answer.
BTW, there shouldn't be anything that is too personal for you to ask your doctor. That is what she is there for, to educate you and to answer your questions. Believe me she would not be offended.
Take care of yourself.

Some residency programs require abortion training but many do not.

No, they are not! You never have to do anything that goes against your own morals. I agree that it's sick - what about the baby's rights? And yes, it IS a baby, not just a clump of cells.

There is nothing wrong with asking your doctor about it. They are happy to tell you things!

No, most OB's are against abortions. Along with most people. It is a sick practice.

Pro-life field? It's a woman's health field.
