We have a Cosco Car Seat and I just don't like it. It doesn't feel safe to me. Any other brands are welcome. I would also like a car seat the recline in the rear facing position if at all possible.

We have a Graco ComfortSport convertible car seat. It was easy to install, it's very secure and it seems pretty comfortable for my son (it does recline when it's rear-facing). The MSRP was $79.99, which is what we paid for it at Babies R Us. It retailed for the same price at Target but at Wal-Mart it was actually $15 more expensive. So it helps to price-check before you buy.

As for brands, Graco and Britax are consistently given the highest safety ratings. Britax car seats are usually more than $200 - a good value only if you use them from Day One out of the hospital. Otherwise, go with Graco. They have a lot of car seats under $100 on their website, www.gracobaby.com.

In all of our shopping around, comparing safety ratings and user ratings, one thing we found is it's best to avoid Cosco and Eddie Bauer brand car seats (or anything else under those brand names). The quality is poorer and they just don't hold up over time as well as many other brands.

If you play your cards right you might be able to find the Graco Safeseat Step 2 (for a child over a year old and 20 pounds). It's foward only but it's so so so nice. We got ours on sale at Target for about $120

Graco Comfortsport doesn't recline but that's the one in the other car. It's pretty nice too but doesn't recline like the Safeseat does.

I'm happy with both car seats but like the Safeseat Step 2 the best because it reclines while installed and the seatbelt safety feature is pretty nice. It has a clip to thred the cars seat belt through. The clip locks the seat belt in place.

Eddie Bauer is expensive to the person who recommended those for you. Target is the worst place to buy carseats, the cheapest ones are the booster ones and they are over $50. For infant carseats, I find Walmart has the better deals. Evenflo is a better brand then costco yet cheaper in price compared to graco and yet evenflo functions just like gracos products if not better. They do have a Evenflo rear-facing/reclining car seat available for around $49.99 and most i seen one was for $69.99 so in the end you will save some pennies at walmart. best of luck!
