Yes, but it's his own fault. If he stuck with the blues rock thing instead of the cheesey fluff, he'd be better respected.

What maters is the people who count know how he can play.

He's worked with some of the best in the biz. including Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton.

Plus his true fans know what he can do with an guitar. He can play Hendrix and that's not easy.

Let the others say he's just a pop star. I think of him as a BLUES GUITARIST and I'm from Chicago, we know the blues

He is a good guitar player, but he is about as good as any blues club guitar player. I mean he plays blues riffs that were played back in the 50's. Nothing really new. If you want to hear some good blues listen to steve ray vaughn. That will put johnny boy to shame.

He is probably underrated, and it is probably because his albums don't really reflect his talent. I wasn't a huge fan of his, but saw him in concert a while back and was amazed at his presence and skills. Too bad he's a little cheesy.

He's not as amazing as all that but he certainly isn't bad. The guy's good at jazz and blues guitar but I'm not sure if he could play spanish guitar if you know what I mean.

I agree. That boy loves to jam. When I saw him live I was more impressed than I thought I'd be. I like how open & honest he is about who is influences are.

I knew I heard a little Stevie Ray comin' outta him! :) cheers

Well, I think he's a great player. Maybe 'cause he's a singer and composer he's carrer have been focused to he's singing instead of he's playing skills.
