I can not get my floppy disk drive to work. Floppy disk with data on them are rejected as not formatted. Unformatted disks are rejected as unformatted. When I attempt to format them the widows fails to format the disk. Both used and unused disks are rejected.

I use Win2k and it's never been able to make any dependable use of floppies. You need to use pure DOS, an older Windows version, or maybe Linux or BSD. I haven't the faintest clue as to why Win2k has so much trouble with floppies. I've even used third-party formatters with no luck whatsoever.

Maybe the floppy disk is damaged .

Have you tried the disk in another pc's floppy drive.

either your floppy read/write head is damage over the time, i'ts really common

that y no one use Floopy no more.

no there is no other way to format floppy.

did you try using command dos?

start->run-> type in cmd
format a:
it shoudl work most of the time.
