I use liquid liner for my top lids and pencil liner for my lower lids.
If you want a long lasting liner that won't melt off...I would recommend that you melt the tip with a lighter for a few seconds, let it cool off for a second or two, then carefully line your lids. It'll stay for hours! I use that for my lower lids

I think pencil eyeliners are the only way to go! Liquid liners are really messy sometimes and they can be scary to apply if you don't have a steady hand. Also, they're harder to take off if you mess up, because they leave a bluish tint to wherever they were applied. Pencil eyeliners are less smudgy and they're also more precise because you can sharpen the point to make it more defined.
To apply eyeliner pencil to the top lid, start from the inner corner and work your way out. Don't try to get the whole lid in one swipe- instead, go for a bunch of little connecting lines and work your way across hat way. It's easier that way. Make sure you are putting the eyeliner as close to your lashes as possible, so you don't see any little bare skin spots between the lashes and the lids. After applying, blend it with a little eraser-looking thing that most eyeliner pencils come with (on the other end). It will look nice.

i graduated from barbizon modelling schoo land this is how the experts do it...
first, find a good pencil brand. i dont use eyeliner that much because i have very light skin but maybeline new york is good. rub the pencil between your fingers to get it soft and make it easier to draw with. do a few practice strokes on the back of your hand and then your ready, on the top eyelid, close to the lashes as possible, do small upward strokes, not a straight line. do NOT i repeat DO NOT put it on the part of the eye lid thats like where the eyelashes come out. THIS WILL DAMAGE YOUR EYES!!!!!

the top of your eye lid... you can use a pencil or the liquid eyeliner, i like pencil best because its easier to get off at the end of the day... but anyhow.. make sure your pencil is sharp not dull.. you close your eye like your winking, and hold the corner of that eye with one finger, strecthing it slightly away from your face.... then steadily with the pencil in your other hand draw a line across the top of your lid as close to your eyelashes as possible... try to keep the line thin or medium, a thick line on the top of the eyelid looks tacky and painted on... good luck as it may take some time to master it.. but you will get the hang of it after a while.

You can apply it with a pencil but it's tough and takes a really steady hand. If you want a sharp line better to go with liquid, if you like the smudged smokey look, do the pencil on the lid then lightly smudge with your ring finger (ring finger has more flesh and is best for smudging) also leave it on your lid for a couple min. to get warm enough so it "smudges" nicely. Be sure the pencil is good and sharp too.
Another good tip is to apply your mascarra more heavy at the root of lashes on upper lid and it creates the illution of a line...good luck!!!

It's OK...those pencils are formulated to be used near your eyes. Make sure the tip of the pencil is sharp and soft...if it is hard, exhale your warm breath on it to soften it up slightly. A long pencil is best for control. Close your eye, holding it tight at the outer corner with one hand. With your other hand, line the lid, as close to your lashes as possible. I find that a back and forth line fills in the spots I miss on the first swipe of the pencil.
It takes practice, so don't get discouraged. I do find that a pencil is easier than liquid.

when applying eye liner to the top lids, i usually use a base first so it goes on smooth, I believe loreal makes one that is priced fairly reasonably, and i only line the corners of the top, i find lining the entire top lid makes for a very hard look, hope this helps

sharpen your pencil. if it is not soft with fresh liner is will not glide on. Try taking the pencil and spinning it in a kleenex and getting it fresh.
