Whi is it that America always praises the should have and downs the winners when it is a black vs a whte. Are we still racist or is it just below the surface.

Emmitt and Clay are true champions, and when they history books are written there will be no room for the should haves so give it up.

Basically it's a popularity contest. Mario should have won because he's the better dancer, but Emmitt is a football player and had more fans. Just like Clay Aiken had more range to his voice and should have won American Idol, but again it's about who received the most votes and who was more popular. In the end, it doesn't really matter when it gets down to the top two because both are winners and are going to succeed anyway. Clay ended up with a record deal, had more media coverage and has probably been more successful than Rueben. But I don't think racism had anything to do with it. Even this year with American Idol, Taylor wasn't as good as Chris, or even Mandissa for that matter....and Ace shouldn't have stayed in the competition as long as he had, but he was good looking and people liked him - and everyone ended up where they should be after the show. The good ones are going to be successful regardless.

This question should never be confused with a racist overtone.
In both these instances I believe that it comes down more to
popularity and not honest talent. The best talent should always
be judged whether you like the person or not. If we are to continue
to have these reality shows then the producers should come up
with an honest alternate final judging manner . Letting the public vote upto the finals is okay because then you get the most entertaining individuals to the fore front however the final judging should be done by professional experts in any field who are not concerned with TV ratings, popularity, black or white or any other
nationality. If we are ever going to learn to live together in this
mixed up world as it is, then we should be able to form an honest
opinion of a persons capabilities. The finals should not be left
up to the public in order for the TV stations to boost their ratings
and lose the sincerity of what the program is supposed to be
representing. We should be more concerned about what kind of
message this sends to our youngsters.

I think the reason Mario is a better dancer than Emmitt, is because Mario Lopez has had some type of dance lessons throughout his life (I believe he admitted to taking tap lessons and break-dancing)... emmitt never had any formal type of training in regards to dance lessons and he kind of evolved in front of our eyes and though Emmitt is not the best dancer in the world, he definitely improved... As for Ruben and Clay, I'm not a fan of either of them... Clay always looked weird and it was just disgusting the way Ruben sweated all over the place...

They chose the vote of the people, so it is a popularity contest, just like it was in high school. So the best person will not always win, just the most popular. I know there were campaigns to vote for Emmitt, and I think he is more popular than Mario anyway. I really don't think race had anything to do with it, at least in Dancing with the Stars.

Im glad Emmit won, regardless of color. He was a better performer and Mario was trying to hard to be the heat throb.

ANd with the Ruben/clay thing. Honestly they both stunk in my opinion. Once again not cause of either color but they both just dont have what it takes to make it in the biz. I.e. neither one is popular. Unless you count clay's homosexual based fans!

i think mario should have won but he didnt, what are we gonna do? i dont think that we are racist it is just because emmitt came from being a big tough football player to being a graceful dancer. mario already was good on his feet and everyone knew it. its not racism.
